The subscribers of Fasthosts emails service received a nasty surprise when they tried to access their email over the weekend, reports news site The Register. When customers attempted to the contact customer support of the company through the official website, they met with no response. Even emails sent from alternative email ids did not succeed in eliciting any kind of reply from the company.

However, Fasthosts was quick to issue a statement to The Register on the situation. A spokesperson for the company said that all the emails sent to the subscribers would be re-sent to their inboxes. The problem was explained as being due to a technical glitch in one of the Email Filters, which resulted in customers being unable to access their email accounts for about 45 minutes. Though the majority of user accounts were reactivated shortly afterwards, only about a hundred or so were left offline. This was due to a corrupt system file infecting their accounts. The upside was that no emails were lost due to the snag and all were retained.

Fasthosts also issued an unequivocal apology to its customers and urged all subscribers who were still facing problems with their accounts to contact the customer support team as soon as possible.
