My Concise Profile of Nicholas Bredimus — Designer & Inventor Extraordinaire
February 17th, 2010Hailing from New Jersey, Nicholas Bredimus studied the worlds of airlines, software, and hospitality and revolutionized these trades. This renaissance man has been involved in many areas, from the luxury home design market via the essentials of safety in the air to software programs to help with time management.
You could have anticipated, however, that with his pedigree he was always likely to reach distinction. Drawn together from many nationalities, his kindred traces to classical Roman times, with the maternal side primarily German and Scottish. England and Luxembourg provided the home of Bredimus’ paternal line, although the family emigrated at the end of the 1800s.
Even after emigration to the U.S., the family continued its work ethic and zeal to thrive and survive. Born one of seven children, Nicholas would be born to a father employed as a mechanical design engineer, and a mother who earned her living as a practicing nurse. He would live much of his life in towns across four states — Arizona, Virginia, Missouri and Texas.
So what did he do with his background and studies? A string of prominent roles were soon his, all as part of major airlines. These included the vp role for Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest, and Republic Airlines. Most important, though, was his effort as a creative software designer for the airline industry.
His outstanding innovations in the field of aircraft maintenance management software, now commonplace in the entire airline sector although originally designed for one specific business, ultimately resulted in what is surely his best known achievement. He would go on to examine making and recording bookings. For both hotels and air travel he developed programs to take on much of the work that had been involved before automation. Carrying what he had learned on to a connected subject, he developed a networked system to help with ticket ordering — another first.
Mr Nicholas Bredimus has even taken on a number of capacities outside of software design, keep in mind. Bredimus was division manager for American Express’ renowned IT department, established Bredimus Systems, and became the inaugural president of American Airlines’ AMR Travel Services. At the time of writing, however, he has stepped back from Northwest Airlines and the software design industry, but he’s still making use of his mind. His focus has turned to the architectural questions bound up in the creation of technologically advanced superior homes.
